COVID-19 and the environment

Our environment is still being damaged even though human activities during COVID-19 have been lessened.

As a result of the pandemic, man-made pollutants have been reduced due to the limited economic activities. However, according to the UNECE, our environment is still being harmed by the increased use of plastics and the rising CO2 concentrations in our atmosphere. Additionally, the economic crisis we are facing has led to thousands of citizens to lose their livelihoods. That has lead to the increased probability of people to "turn to unsustainable harvesting of natural resources" (UNECE, n.d.).

Although we were able to limit the spread of the virus, our alternative activities are harming the environment.
