Using pesticides and chemical fertilizer endangers us, the environment and other living organisms.
According to Abigail Smith (2019) the rapid increase of the population is the need for more resources. The question arises of the production of food to sustain the growing population can be sustain with little or limited natural resources left. As a result, people innovate farming and invented pesticides, fertilizers and genetically modified organisms that maximizes the harvest in a farm land. Although, people have maximizes the production for food another concern arises as food waste became a huge problem.
What happened is, despite solving food insecurity, another much important problem emerge. Doing unsustainable practices such as what is mentioned above cause in land degradation, risks human's health and other living organisms. That's why converting to sustainable farming is a crucial step that we have to take to take care of what matters!
Sustainable farming mentioned by Smith (2019) is conceptualize to preserve the environment, expand earth's natural resources, while producing a quality life for humans and animals. Sustainable agriculture permits to produce a desirable amount of food and textile to meet the needs of the society without compromising the natural resources for future generations. Another benefit that sustainable agriculture can offer is maintaining the quality of soil, reduce soil degradation, and preserving water.
