The earth provided us with air to breathe, clean water to drink, and other resources used in our daily lives. We turn raw materials from the environment into clothes, a shelter, a car, etc. And as time goes by, products provide us comfort and make our lives easier and convenient. However, the environment becomes collateral damage for human activities. Human activity also includes rapid urbanization, industrialization, and overpopulation - increase waste generation in different parts of the world. Another is the overconsumption of natural resources that contributes to environmental degradation. The deterioration of our environment reduces its ability to protect us from natural hazards such as floods, typhoons, drought, etc.
Saving our environment should be our priority as pollution, natural hazards, and climate change intensifies. According to Ashfaq and Khatoon (n.d.) discovered that solid waste management reduces environmental degradation. Solid waste, namely, organic and inorganic waste materials generated through different activities of the society. Haphazardly throwing solid wastes resulted in air, soil, and water pollution. It also contaminates our land and groundwater supply. HenceTherefore, we should start proper solid waste management.
